eTip #13
Belief and Actions
Thoughts are things. Your thoughts produce actions.
Many leaders focus on what their people DO and then seek to correct
the problems. While this approach will lead to partial success,
it will not help you achieve the level of success that you desire.
If you want to develop self-propelled people, you must understand
that their actions will only change permanently when their beliefs
change. Belief always precedes actions. Try focusing on why they
are doing instead of what. This will lead to a real change in behavior.
To act differently, we must think differently. Have
you ever wondered why a change you thought was in place was not
sustained? You have to have the right mindset.
What people believe is so important because it is
that belief that causes the actions. Change their beliefs and you
will change their behavior. Change some of your beliefs and you
will improve your leadership style.
EXTRA: If quitters never win, and winners never quit, then who
is the person that said, “quit while you’re ahead?”
