eTip #18
Learning Outside the Box
In a cartoon, Lucy says to Linus, “The lady
from the PTA visited our class today and I volunteered you to sing
‘Jingle Bells’ in the Christmas program”
Linus….”You what? I can’t sing! You know that!
I have never been able to sing!
Lucy. “LEARN!”
The Key to Business Success is learning. Most professionals
understand the importance of learning -- of staying fresh, getting
inspired by new ideas, and applying these ideas to their own businesses
and practices -- but they miss a key ingredient.
Here's why. Most likely, you are looking to see
what people in your own industry are doing. The people in your industry
use the same type of marketing techniques and approaches. And these
may not be the most effective approaches -- but they are what everyone
else does.
If you want really GREAT ideas and amazing breakthroughs, develop
a mindset to look at ideas, strategies and techniques that are working
in very different industries to figure out how they can apply to
your business -- especially if they don't seem like they can right
off.
The key point is, that instead of saying, "that doesn't apply
to me or my business," ask yourself instead: "how can
I apply
this idea to my business?"
The 3 most important words in the English language….
I CAN LEARN!
EXTRA: I am a nobody, and nobody is perfect;
therefore I am perfect.
