eTip #25
Goals?
“He who is good at making excuses
is seldom good for anything else.”
Remember those goals you made back in January? If
I asked for a show of hands of who is still on track, would yours
be raised?
Why Goals don’t work!
Did you write them down? (Yes, there is a reason
for them to be in writing!)
Did you “take stock” before you wrote them by taking
a look at what worked last year and what didn’t?
How many of you change the oil in your car, regularly?
Would you ever, for one minute, think of adding oil on top of oil
….and why not…..because you want your engine to be powerful.
Don’t you want to be powerful? Well, you have to clear out
the old stuff first.
Here are a few pointers on what makes Goals work!
1. List the things you don’t want in your
life this year. Now shred it and turn loose of it in your head.
(We tend to carry around a lot of ‘stuff’ in us)
2. Now list the things you want to happen. If anything
is on the list from previous years, look at and say, I NO LONGER
BELIEVE I CAN’T DO THAT. Picture yourself walking up the stairs
to a new level, a level that believes you can make the changes you
want to make.
3. See yourself in your mind already accomplishing
the goal.
4. Now, FEEL how good it feels. An example would
be, if your goal is to be debt free this year, feel the feelings
like it is already happening, Feel yourself tearing up that charge
card. Feel the elation.
This is very much a right brain activity and your
right brain is in charge of feelings.
Fear holds you back and faith moves you forward.
If you want things to be different, you have to
change your thoughts and your habits and be excited about them!
Setting a Goal says-
I am changing
I am growing
I am practicing, risking, starting
I AM!
Discipline and perseverance are the bridge to
accomplishment
